Help spread the word about #DeWasteDobbs!

We are working hard to educate all residents, property owners and landlords on the rules and best practices around properly managing their waste.

Below are some tools you can use to help spread this information.

(We will continue to add to this page as our campaign progresses.)

In additional to signage, maybe you’ll consider sending a letter to your building’s Manager or other residents. We’ve taken the liberty of drafting a sample letter, but feel free to put into your own words too!

Hi friends and neighbors,

I’m excited to help spread the word about an important, waste reduction campaign called DeWaste Dobbs - the 0.6 lbs Challenge.

🟢 As it stands (as of our 2021 figures; the latest data) Dobbs Ferry has the lowest recycling rate in all of Westchester County, at 29% -- a ranking that we share only with Mount Vernon.

🟢 Additionally, our Village currently spends approximately $155,000 on tipping fees for trash, while recycling is free. We are literally throwing that money in the garbage. If we could get our recycling rate up to 70% (not unheard of for a Village of our size) we could save over $100,000 per year!

A cornerstone of our campaign is the 0.6 lbs Pledge- essentially a promise to be more thoughtful about our waste. We are not asking for perfection, but we are asking people to be mindful and aware of the rules and best practices.

I'd consider it a personal favor if you and any other adults in your household would take this Pledge, as we work hard to get this campaign off the ground!
