In 2021, Dobbs Ferry weighed nearly 10 million pounds — in trash that is!!

And we
recycled only 29% of our garbage – the LOWEST rate in all of Westchester County.

We can and we MUST do better! Help us #DeWasteDobbs.

The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has a long term goal to reduce waste disposal to 0.6 pounds per person per day by 2030 .

Currently, Dobbs Ferry residents dispose of 2.4lbs per person per day, and we only recycle 29% of our waste. Compare that to the county average recycling rate of 50%, and our neighbors (Ardsley 57%; Irvington 57%; Hastings 41%) and we have to make some improvements.

Over the course of the year, we will focus on 4 seasonal actions that Dobbs Ferry residents can take to reduce the tonnage of our waste stream. We will educate on recycling for the entire year.
